Two Excavated Civil War Spherical Shells, 8" Mortar Ball and 9" Dahlgren Navy Ball
American Civil War
1) Nominally 9" Dahlgren Navy ball, approximately 70 pounds with fuse holder in place.
2) Nominally 8" mortar ball, approximately 45 pounds with no fuse holder present. Mr. Paulsen's notes indicate the shell was recovered at Fort Damnation in Petersburg.
