Lock marked with a {Spread Winged Eagle}/U.S. and in two lines SAVAGE R.F.A. Co./MIDDLETOWN, Ct. forward of the hammer. Dated 1863 at tail of lock and 1863 on top of breech. Standard V/P/{Eagle Head} proofs on breech. The left barrel flat is stamped NJ and the couterpane has a deep block NJ mark as well, both indicating State of New Jersey purchase and ownership. {ANTIQUE}
