Lot Description

Belgian Brevet Colt Navy Revolver in Display Case with Period Holster, Belt & Cap Pouch
American Civil War

.37 caliber. 7.375" octagonal barrel. SN: 48730. Originally blued finish, smooth one-piece hardwood grip. Single action percussion revolver with toggle link loading lever, six-chambered un-fluted cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight, brass post front sight and lanyard ring in butt. Barrel clearly marked COLT/PATENT in two lines and much more weakly on the lower left edge of the frame. With Belgian made "Brevet" Colts, the marking with the word "Patent" instead of "Brevet" suggests the gun was intended for sale in an English speaking location, like Great Britain or the United States. Matching serial numbers on the frame and barrel, no other numbers were noted. Cylinder is a modern reproduction Colt Navy cylinder that has been chemically aged. The revolver is in a display case accompanied by a period "Slim Jim" style flap holster with leather closure tab and iron finial, a well worn US cap pouch and a nominally 34" long 1.125" wide leather belt with iron roller buckle. A braided strap is also included with an iron snap hook at the end.
