Lock marked with a {Spread Winged Eagle} on the tape primer magazine door and in two lines U.S./SPRINGFIELD forward of the hammer. Dated 1860 at tail of lock and top of breech. Standard V/P/{Eagle Head} proofs on breech. No cartouches on counterpane or evidence there ever were any.
