Lot Description

Confederate "CS and Star" Short Sword with Scabbard
American Civil War

18.25" wasp waisted double-edged blade with a 13" median fuller. Blade 2" wide at ricasso. 5.5" crudely cast brass hilt with 3.75" guard. Hilt cast with 17 diagonal grasping grooves, guard with crude raised CS cast into it on both sides. Pommel cap with crudely cast star on both sides. The sword is accompanied by an old brass mounted leather scabbard that appears very similar to known original examples. It not known which Confederate arms maker is responsible for making these swords.
