Lot Description

Fine US Model 1842 Pistol by Aston
Mexican American War

.54 caliber. 8.5" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading smoothbore percussion ignition pistol with swivel ramrod, no rear sight and brass blade front sight. Lock with standard Aston markings and dated 1851 at tail. Tang with matching 1851 date, breech with US/JH/P inspection marks. Counterpane with a pair of clear script cartouches, the first the GW of arsenal sub-inspector George Wright and the second the WAT of Ordnance Officer William Anderson Thornton.
