Group of Four WWI M1917 Helmets, Including 5th Infantry Division
World War II
Lot of Four US Model 1917 steel helmets with textured brown painted finish, and mounting leather suspension and textile pad retained by rivets. One helmet is painted with a single red diamond, the iconic logo of the US Army's 5th Infantry Division. The diamond is painted just above a diamond shaped indentation in the finish, suggesting the helmet was repainted and the marking reapplied.
