Lot Description
**Ithaca 1911A1
.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 871985. Parkerized metal finish mounting Keyes fibre grips, standard military pattern sights, and a blued barrel with polished chamber. Short recoil operated single action autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. Left slide struck with two-line address marking reading ITHACA GUN CO., INC./ITHACA, N.Y.. Further slide marks include P to the top of the slide behind chamber that is struck perpendicular to the axis of the slide. An {Ordnance Bomb} is marked on the rear face of the slide beneath the firing pin plate. A second {Ordnance bomb} appears on the interior of the dustcover on the frame. Left frame stamped with the FJA initials of inspector Frank J. Atwood with a P below the magazine release. Right frame stamped UNITED STATES PROPERTY above the serial number followed by model marking M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY. An {Ordnance Wheel} is weakly struck into the right frame. Barrel stamped with P to left lug and HS on the right, indicating it was made for Ithaca by High Standard. The serial number on the frame falls in the correct range for an Ithaca, and correctly lacks the proof marks that began to appear after serial number 900,000. Right triggerguard marked 7. Both grip panels show the {K in Star} logo of the Keyes company. Magazine is blued and unmarked. Item retains a rough external machined finish to the metal. {C&R}
