Hagner and McKeever Cartridge Boxes
Indian Wars
1.) 7.25" x 4". Model 1872 Hagner Pattern Carbine Cartridge Box. Black leather with flap embossed US, and featuring riveted belt loops, and 24 varnished canvas cartridge loops. Lid marked with an old hand-written label dated 24 January 1884 that is largely illegible. A label with the number 16 is applied to the rear face.
2.) 6.5" x 3.875" First Pattern McKeever cartridge box with Indian Wars era leather belt and brass US belt plate. Cartridge box is stamped C.O. with US embossed onto the outer flap. It is composed of brass rivets, corner staples, and stitching, with the upper edges of the belt loops stitched and the lower edges riveted. Interior of case shows no visible tool bulge. Belt has been marked with the initials R.S. Inside pouch are twenty varnished canvas loops on leather baffles.
