Lot Description

L.W. Pond .32 Rimfire Single Action Belt Revolver

.32RF. 4.875" octagonal barrel. SN: 1717. No finish remaining, smooth rosewood grips. Single action, tip up barrel spur trigger revolver with hinge notch rear sight and brass blade front sight. Weak one-line barrel address reads: L.W. POND WORCESTER, MASS. PAT'D JULY 10, 1860. Matching serial numbers throughout, including the grips. These revolvers were produced circa 1861-1870 in direct completion with the Smith & Wesson Model No. 2, and in direct violation of the Rollin White patent for the bored through cylinder, which had been assigned to Smith & Wesson. Later production guns were marked with Smith & Wesson markings as part of the settlement after Smith & Wesson successfully sued Pond for violating the patent. {ANTIQUE}
