US Model 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle
Spanish American War
.45-70. 32.375" barrel. SN: 501504 (mfg. ca. 1891). Blued and color casehardened finish, steel furniture, full-length walnut stock. Single shot breechloading military rifle with M1884 Buffington rear sight, Barleycorn front sight, two-piece triggerguard, 3-click tumbler, sling and stacking swivels, slotted head cleaning rod. Standard lock markings for this period of production and 1884 breech block marking. A weak script SWP cartouche with an illegible date is present at the left wrist and a weak {Circle-P} firing proof is still visible behind the triggerguard. {ANTIQUE}
