Attic Condition US Model 1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword by Clauberg
American Civil War
32" slightly curved single edged blade with 21.5" stopped central fuller. 37.5" in overall length. 5.75" hilt with cast brass guard with foliate motifs and US in the face, Phrygian helmet pommel cap, single knuckle bow and forward swept quillon. Grooved wood grip covered in shagreen with twelve wraps of multi-strand wire. Reverse ricasso with Clauberg maker's mark and logo. Blade etched with foliate, patriotic and martial themes with a large US as the central image on the reverse and a spread-winged eagle in a sunburst on the obverse. Includes a blued steel scabbard with engraved brass mounts and two suspension rings.
