Lot Description

**1916 Dated DWM P08 Luger Pistol with 1916 Dated Holster
World War I

9mm Para. 3.9" barrel length. SN: 2387d. Blued metal finish overall with nitre blued and straw colored small parts mounting checkered walnut stocks. Short-recoil operated striker action autoloading pistol using the toggle locking principle and fed by detachable single stack magazines. Toggle link shows the DWM mark of Deutschewaffen und Munitionsfabriken with a date mark to the forward slide of 1916. Barrel exhibits a bore gauge mark of 8,83, and the right slide shows the WWI Imperial German {Reichsadler} stamp beside three Gothic letter inspection stamps. Further {Reichsadler} marks appear on the upper barrel and left breechblock. Shows standard GESICHERT safety marking to left frame and GELADEN loaded chamber mark to left extractor. Majority of serial numbers match, but the pistol mounts a replaced nonfluted firing pin. Grips match. Magazine is the period correct wood base plug model but does not match the pistol. Comes in a leather Luger pattern holster with maker mark reading C. HOLSTE & CO/MUNCHEN/1916, a Bavarian leather goods maker that produced holsters for Imperial Germany in World War I. Holster contains a Luger disassembly tool with a weak WWII {Droop Wing Eagle} stamp. {C&R}
