Sporterized and Composite Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Rifle
.45-70. 32.625" barrel. SN: 118248 (mfg. ca. 1879). Blued and color casehardened finish, walnut stock. Single shot breechloading "trapdoor" action military rifle, sporterized by shortening the stock and removing a barrel band. Includes an 1879 pattern long range rear sight, a pinned front sight on a block base, three-click tumbler, grooved trigger, and two-piece triggergaurd missing the sling swivel. Breech block is an 1884 marked replacement. Missing cleaning rod. {ANTIQUE}
