Lot Description

Liddle & Kaeding - San Francisco Marked Webley Bull Dog Revolver

.450CF. 2.5" barrel. SN: 50755. No finish remaining, checkered walnut grips. Double action solid frame cartridge revolver with five-chambered un-fluted cylinder, loading gate, pivoting ejector rod in arbor pin, top of frame groove rear sight and German silver half-moon blade front sight. Top strap marked LIDDLE & KAEDING and SAN FRANCISCO on either side of the sighting groove. Standard Webley markings on left side of frame, forward of the cylinder. Robert Liddle moved to San Francisco circa 1853 and went into business as a gunsmith and dealer in firearms. Sometime in the latter part of the 1860s he partnered with Charles Kaeding and the two operated together until circa 1889. During the time the company offered a full line sporting goods retailer in addition to firearms.
