Lot Description
**Springfield Model 1903A1 National Match Rifle with J. Unertl Scope Bases
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 1512181. Blued and Parkerized metal finish with walnut semi-pistol grip C-stock mounting adjustable ladder rear notch and front blade sights. Bolt-action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with stripper clips and mounting two-piece Unertl pattern scope bases, one over the forward receiver and the other forward of the handguard with upper handguard correspondingly flattened to match. Note, wood finish in this flattened area differs from the remainder of the handguard, suggesting it was done after leaving the factory. Barrel is star gauged and shows a P mark forward of the handguard, and SA/{Ordnance Bomb}/1-38, indicating the barrel was made in January of 1938 by Springfield Armory. Receiver is marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903 followed by the serial number. Rear sight retains the 2800 yard notch, suggesting it was replaced at some point. Item features the correct twin vent ports aligning with vent holes in the bolt, and an electropen serial number to the bolt that does not match the receiver, indicating it was replaced. Bolt shows the NS mark for Nickel Steel on the handle. Stock shows a circle P to the wrist and an illegible cartouche to left wrist with the wood showing signs of sanding overall. Safety channel struck with F initial. Mounts a solid buttplate without trapdoor. Lacks scope. {C&R}
