US Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle
Spanish American War

.45-70. 32.5" barrel length. SN: 462723. Blued metal finish with casehardened breechblock mounting walnut straight wrist stock with full length handguard and mounting Buffington pattern rear and pinned front blade sights. Single shot trapdoor action rifle featuring stacking swivels to the upper barrel band and a swivel to the two-piece triggerguard. Breechblock is struck with model marking U.S/MODEL/1884 with lockplate marked {US Army Eagle} U.S/SPRINGFIELD. Rear barrel is marked V/P/{Eagle Head} with additional A and P initials. Buttplate is struck US along with a rack number of 32. Rifle features a low-arch breechblock and three click tumbler. Left wrist displays the boxed SWP/1889 cartouche of inspector Samuel W Porter. Toe of the stock marked with a single circle P. {ANTIQUE}
