Lot Description

Remington Model 1867 US Navy Cadet Rifle
Indian Wars

.50-70. 32.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued metal finish with reblued frame in walnut straight wrist stock with full length handguard retained by two barrel bands. Single shot rolling block rifle with no sling loops and mounting two-position musket rear and front blade sights. Tang shows maker marking REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A./PAT. MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866. Left receiver struck with a correct Naval {Anchor} mark while the right is marked with again, a correct P/F.C.W. Top of the buttplate shows standard US mark forward of the upper screw with additional rack number below reading F/277. Both barrel bands exhibit standard U stamps. Comes with a steel cleaning rod. Barrel features standard Springfield style three groove rifling and a brazed in liner. One of only 498 Remington Rolling Block rifles built for the United States Naval Cadets. {ANTIQUE}
