Flat beveled flintlock with integral iron pan remains in original flint with matching punch dot marks on the lock components. Lock with standard US/{Spread-Winged Eagle}/SPRINGFIELD in an upward arc markings forward of the cock and dated 1815 vertically at the tail. Breech with P/{Eagle Head}/V inspection marks and buttplate tang dated 1816. Stock with what appears to be a weak script LS cartouche at the rear. A scarce example of one of the transitional model US military flintlock muskets before the standardization of the Model 1816. Wickham's studs were not used for very long on muskets and a scarce feature for the advanced US martial long arms collector. Includes an unrelated leather sling. {ANTIQUE}
