Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Comprising a cloud collar worked with shades of turquoise and pink floss against the similarly toned ground, with each of six pendant sections embroidered with various insects and flowers terminating in outward-facing bats grasping butterfly-shaped terminals; a two-part formal wedding collar of pale gold and blue-toned silk intricately worked with shaped pendants and figural scenes. The third a shaped stiffened collar with pointed sides flanking a curvilinear central opening worked with gilt-wrapped threads couched against dark brown brocade to depict dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls within boundaries of crashing waves and a key fret border.
