Folio (381 x 279 mm). 94 chromolithographs plates, 7 double-page. Contemporary half dark green morocco gilt, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands gilt, gilt-lettering in 2, top edge gilt (light rubbing to joints and fore-corners).
FIRST EDITION. Fries was a Swedish botanist and mycologist, often considered one of the founding fathers of the taxonomy of mushrooms, of which many of the hundreds of botanical names that Fries described remain authoritative today. Nissen BBI 655.
