Original brown cloth, spines with gilt-lettering and vignettes (2 plate volumes bound in half calf, spine ends and fore-corners worn, some splitting to joints, a few volumes with old library sticks on spines). Provenance: Institutional stamps and bookplates throughout.

FIRST EDITION of this comprehensive survey of the flora and fauna of New York conducted over more than a decade and under four successive governorships, beginning with William H. Seward. An incomplete set, as usual, comprising: Zoology in 3 (of 6) parts, plus plate volume for Reptiles, together bound in 3 volumes; Botnany in 2 volumes; Mineralogy in one volume; Geology in 3 (of 4) volumes; Paleontology in 10 (of 13) volumes; Agriculture in 2 (of 5) volumes.
