3 volumes, 8vo. Engraved portrait frontispiece and 118 engraved colored plates. (Some light offsetting to text, occasional light browning.) 19th-century green half straight-grain morocco, uncut, stamp-signed by Warren (spines sunned, light rubbing). Provenance: Constance Walter (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION. Curtis was director at the Chelsea Physic Garden before establishing his botanical garden, first at Bermondsey, then later at Lambeth Marsh and Brompton. He cultivated some 6,000 species from all over the world. Nissen BBI 442.
