First edition, first impression. 8vo. 253 pp. Publisher's black cloth, stamped at center of front board with a silver and metallic-red revolver and rose, lettered in same along spine, cocked, lightly soiled; text block edges foxed; periodical clippings sello-taped to front free endpaper; old gift inscription on front free endpaper; scattered creasing to corners; in original pictorial dust-jacket, designed by Richard Chopping, worn and soiled, large tear along top edge of front panel, other scattered tears along panel edges; small circular yellow sticker at bottom of rear panel (applied by Lawrence Hughes, denoting importance).
