Title-page within typographical border, and with woodcut initials. Full paneled brown calf, extremities dry and chipping, front and rear boards detached, spine worn and perishing; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; title-page repaired along top edge and at fore-edge; second and third leaf repaired along top edge; spotting and soiling to text; dampstaining in rear leaves; top edge trimmed close, affecting some running headlines and page numbers; scattered contemporary and later marginalia. From the family libraries of Americana collectors and bibliophiles Amor L. and Zachary T. Hollingsworth. ESTC S107289

Very scarce first edition in English of this collection of John Calvin's sermons. According to RBH this is the first copy to come to auction since 1981, and ESTC locates 17 locations, with only eight in the United States.
