2 volumes, 4to (183 x 117 mm). With engraved folding map (with routes outlined in color) and 4 engraved plates by Tardieu. (Frontispiece and first few leaves vol. II slightly spotted, slight offsetting to title vol. I.) Contemporary French half mottled calf, marbled boards, smooth spines gilt, lettering-pieces gilt. Provenance: Karl-Ferdinand Schaedler (bookplate).FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on title-page verso (as often). With Appendix which includes a complete itinerary, a report on the mineral wealth and metal work of Senegal as brought back by Mollien, and French discoveries in West Africa before and by the author.
