Provenance: San Francisco Museum of Art Library (discreet blindstamp on titles and a few leaves); David Bixler (bookplate). FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. First published in German in 1857-59, and in London the same year (both in 5 volumes). This first American edition was reset and complete in 3 volumes. Scarce.
