WOOD, John, Lieut. (1811-1871). A Personal Narrative of a Journey to the Source of the River Oxus, by the Route of the Indus, Kabul, an
8vo. With folding engraved map. Modern half calf gilt (minor spotting to fore-edge). FIRST EDITION. In 1836 Wood was appointed assistant to the commercial mission to Afghanistan under Sir Alexander Burnes. During his time there he drew up a report on the geography of the Kabul valley and became the first European to trace the source of the Oxus. Yakushi (1994) W218a.
