London: for Longman, Rees, et al, 1828. 4to (294 x 229 mm). 15 lithographed plates (7 on india paper mounted), 2 folding maps (one hand-colored, outer margin of one map repaired on verso), folding panorama, facsimile letter, 1 chart, 2 hand-colored folding tables. (Lacking half-title, some minor foxing and pale spotting.) Contemporary half black calf, marbled boards, spine decorated in gilt and blind (lightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION, LARGE-PAPER COPY. This account of the author's early, successful ascent of Mont Blanc "was a classic of alpine literature, a vivid narrative of the pleasures and perils of mountaineering illustrated by Auldjo's own sketches" (ODNB).
