He climbed extensively in the little-known Adai-Khokh Range of the Eastern Caucasus. The entire range is the geographical boundary between Europe and Asia, running 500 miles from the Baltic to the Caspian Sea with only four major passes across it, all heavily glaciated on the heights ranging from 14,000 ft. to Kazbek at 16,500 ft. and Elbruz at 18,500 ft. Dchy's remarkable photographs of these peaks, passes and glaciers, his mountain panoramas and the full extent of the narrative were an expensive publishing project and were never reprinted.
