Provenance: H. R. Murland (1944 signature).FIRST EDITION. Thomson details his crossings of the Saser and Karakoram Passes, each the first crossing by a European. Hedin later called Thomson's journey "one of the most important and successful ever undertaken against the secrets of the highest mountain land on earth" for its descriptions of routes into the Karakoram and the Royal Geological Society awarded him its Gold Medal.
