Lot Description
LAWRENCE, Thomas Edward (1888-1935). Seven Pillars of Wisdom. A Triumph. London: Jonathan Cape, 1935.
4to (243 x 184 mm). 4 folding maps, 54 portrait plates. Mid-20th-century red morocco gilt by Maurin. FIRST TRADE EDITION, published in the same year as the limited edition of 750 numbered copies. Lawrence was engaged in archaeological work on the Euphrates prior to the first World War, and during the War he worked and traveled in Arabia and the Trans-Jordan. He fought against the Turks in the northern Hejaz, campaigned in Arabia Petraea, and achieved victory in Damascus. OBrien A042.
