Publisher's gilt- and black-stamped blue cloth, bevelled edges, edges gilt (some light wear, particularly to extremities, spine slightly leaned). Provenance: W.H. Smith & Son (bookseller's blind stamp); M.M. and A.E. Church (gift inscription); Addie (gift inscription). FIRST EDITION, the second collection of short stories, after The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, published in 1892.
