4 volumes, 8vo (208 x 127 mm). 9 engraved folding maps. (A few short tears to folds, map of York Town torn along fold with old repair to verso, some light browning or spotting). Later half roan gilt (some light wear to extremities, a few joints starting). FIRST EDITION. "Gordon is deservedly reckoned as one of the most impartial and reliable of the numerous historians of the American Revolution" (Sabin 28011, erroneously calling for 8 plates and 5 maps).
