(Some spotting or browning, particularly to plates.) Original printed yellow wrappers (minor chipping to spine ends, some light soiling); quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance: Mrs. Wilson (contemporary signature in pencil on a few covers); S. Wartenberg (blind stamp on cover of part 22); Eugene Grosman (bookplate).FIRST EDITION IN PARTS, EARLY ISSUE with "actresses" instead of "ancestresses," on p. 207, line 33; and the errors in Part XII, with chapters XLVII-XLVIII mislabeled "XLVIII-XLIX."
