Two Rare Bronze Vases JIAJING PERIOD (1521-1567), DATED TO THE EIGHTEENTH YEAR OF JIAJING, CORRESPONDING TO YEAR 1539 one cast in the shape of a zhong (loyalty) character, the other xiao (filial piety) character, each raised on a spreading foot, the exterior decorated with leiwen, each narrow side having four vertical lines of inscriptions, dated to the twenty-second day in the fifth month in the eighteenth year of Jiajing reign (1539). Height of larger 9 3/8 inches.
