Le Got du Jour.Paris: Franois Bernouard, December 1918, 20 June-20 December 1920. 14 issues, 8vo (222 x 155 mm). 1st issue, 1918: 4 hand-colored engraved plates. 1st-13th issues, 1920: 40 engraved plates in two states, hand-colored on thick paper, and uncolored on thin paper. Original wrappers printed in black and green, red, orange, blue , yellow or purple, hand-colored engraved illustration to 1918 issue, the rest with hand-colored roses (some minor staining or soiling, otherwise fine), 7 issues with original glassine; green cloth folding case. FIRST EDITION. Le Got de Jour, a short lived French fashion publication, rivaled La Gazette du Bon Ton and Journal des Dames in quality of production and execution. One of the great records of Parisian couture and lifestyle in the post-war period, it features hand-colored etchings by some of the great illustrators of the era including Benito, Bonfils, Laboureur, and Se.EXCESSIVELY SCARCE: American Book Prices Current traces only one copy of the 1920 issues at auction in the last 40 years (lacking the first issue), and no copy of the 1918 issue.
