8vo (201 x 136 mm). Numerous half-tone plates, text illustrations. Publisher's navy blue pictorial cloth, gilt-lettered on upper cover and spine, top edge gilt. FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY LANGFORD to Mrs. Charles A. Stott, St. Paul, Minn., 25 June 1907. Langford was a member of the Washburn expedition to Yellowstone, and in 1872 he became the first superintendent of the National Park, serving until 1877.
