8vo. Original cloth (corners and extremities slightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION of the second Philo Vance story, a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone. [Laid in:] TLS signed ("W.H. Wright"), New York, NY, 11 May 1929, 1 page, 4to. A FINE LETTER FROM WRIGHT ("S.S. Van Dine") TO CAROLYN WELLS HOUGHTON regarding her use of Wright's "twenty rules" in the planned new edition of her book Technique of the Mystery Story. Wright concludes: "I send you my best wishes, and if you will let me have a copy of the new edition of your book I will be only too happy to write a glowing review of it - which, I assure you I can do whole-heartedly."
