Lot Description

An Italian Baroque Carved Walnut Refectory Table FLORENCE, 16TH CENTURY AND LATER having a rectangular top with two draw leaves above the gadroon frieze spaced with carved acanthus decoration, raised on heavily carved twin supports worked to show a female figure on one side and a male figure on the other, each flanked by monoped supports headed by a grotesque mask terminating in hoof feet, further raised on a shaped plinth centered with a grotesque winged mask flanked by a lion mask on each side, the twin supports joined by a fluted stretcher centered with a foliate and scroll carved shaped support. Height 34 1/4 x width 63 3/4 (closed) x depth 36 1/8 inches.
