Lot Description
A Sino-Tibetan Parcel-Gilt Bronze Figure of Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
finely cast and depicting a bodhisattva seated in dhyanasana above a lotus base, holding a dagger and a skullcap in his primary hands, the other hands in different mudras, wearing a dhoti with a sash, the upper body adorned with beaded jewelry, his head slightly tilted to the left and the face cast with a benevolent expression, flanked by a pair of flori-form earrings and surmounted by a five-leaf tiara with all hair pulled to a high chignon, the base cast with a seven-character mark in a cartouche reading Da Qing Qianlong nian jingzao (Respectfully made in the Great Qing dynasty Qianlong year), above an inscription of five characters to the front and another six characters to the back.
