(Soiling to front and back-facing endpapers, marginal spotting.) Publisher's brown blind-stamped cloth (lightly rubbed, discreet library label on spine and associated markings). FIRST EDITION. In 1853, Smith resigned from an astronomical expedition in Chile and set out, from Concepcin, on the tour of central and southern Chile; his work, also includes observations on the culture and condition of the Araucanian Indians.
