Washington: Government Printing Office, 1875. 8vo (231 x 147 mm). One folding map, 5 plates. (Some pale staining.) ORIGINAL WRAPPERS, stab-sewn (disbound). Forsyth's day-by-day narration of his expedition from Fort Buford up the Yellowstone, with Grant's report to suppplement. The plates depict the mouths of the Powder, River, Yellowstone, Big Horn, Castle Rocks, and Pryor's Creek. RARE: according to online auction records, only 3 copies of this work have appeared at auction in the last 35 years. Eberstadt 112:149.
