Publisher's brown gold-stamped cloth (lightly rubbed, corners bumped, discreet library labels on spines with associated markings). FIRST EDITION. Porter was sent to Damascus as a missionary, and over the next ten years he travelled extensively throughout Syria and Palestine. He describes Damascus in his experiences and discusses his journeys to Palmyra, the Hauran, and Lebanon.
