A Sino-Tibetan Gilt Bronze Figure of Bodhisattva Yamantaka Vajrabhairava
18TH/19TH CENTURY
the wrathful figure standing in alidhasana on prostrate figures and animals atop a single lotus plinth with beaded edges, his principle arms holding his consorts and his hands grasping a chopper and a skull cup, the other hands in various mudras, wearing elaborate beaded jewelry and an elephant skin, the face with a fierce expression with a pair of horns, bulgy eyes and enlarged nostrils, his mouth wide opened revealing his teeth, his red-painted flaming hair secured by a skull crown surrounded by three faces, cast in two sections, the base sealed.
Height 6 1/2 inches.
