A Fine Blue and White Porcelain Hu Vase
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
the archaistic hu -form body painted with two bands of lotus scrolls between a circle of plantain leaves and a band of crashing waves, separated by three sets of raised double ring borders, rising to a short waisted neck surmounted by an everted mouth rim decorated with further wave motif, the shoulders applied with a pair of beast mask ring handles, the spreading foot painted with overlapping lappet leaves, bearing a Qianlong six-character mark in underglaze blue to the underside.
Height 9 3/4 inches.
