A French Faience Twin-Handled Floor Vase 1944, DESIGNED BY MAURICE PAUL CHEVALLIER (FRENCH, 1892-1987) FOR FAIENCERIES ET EMAUX DE LONGWY titled Oiseaux Athophiles, in the form of a Chinese vase, the body decorated in continuation depicting hummingbirds amongst a field of floral blossoms on a black ground, having stylized handles at the neck, the underside signed MP Chevallier, inscribed "Piece unique decoree a la main. Novembre 1944 'Oiseaux Anthophiles,'" and bearing an Emaux de Longwy stamp. Height 23 3/4 inches.
