Lot Description

A Dutch Gilt Metal Mounted Burl Walnut Tall Case Clock PAULUS BRAMER & SON, AMSTERDAM, 18TH CENTURY the circular dial with Roman numeral hours and Arabic minutes on a silvered chapter ring signed Paulus Bramer en Soon Amsterdam, having a moonphase dial and three calendar dials including date, month and day of the week, each day and month having a corresponding emblematic figural engraving, above a painted panel depicting scholars and an angel with a lion, bovine and eagle, all set beneath a shaped hood worked to show a Rococo scroll surmounted by three figural finials, over a rectangular trunk with canted fore-corners and enclosing a shaped door, the lower section having buttress fore-corners ending in bun feet. Height 110 1/2 inches.
