the ovoid jar with three small raised feet, the body decorated with six painted panels depicting seated Lohans reading scrolls, with attendants nearby, all in landscape of temples and auspicious symbols and with geometric and floral borders. The silver vented cover with kiku flower, having a silver mouth The base bearing Shimazu family crest and cartouche with maker's mark.
