Richard Field was a Stratford contemporary of Shakespeare's responsible for the printing and publishing of many of his works, including his first two published works, Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece. The present work is another example of the collaboration between the two men and the influence of Field on Shakespeare which is evident in many of his published plays and lesser writings (David Kathman).
